The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is implementing the Water for Resilience (W4R) Programme in Somalia and Somaliland, across two target corridors, Afmadow and Togwajaale. The programme aims to improve sustainable, climate-resilient access to safe, reliable and affordable water services for vulnerable rural and peri-urban agro-pastoralist communities.
DRC intends to engage a qualified consulting firm or consultant team to conduct an in-depth Gender Equality and Women's Economic Empowerment baseline assessment across the W4R target corridors. The assessment will examine how socio-economic, market, institutional, financial and governance factors influence women's participation, decision-making, economic opportunities and benefits within water systems. It will also identify systemic barriers, risks, incentives and opportunities affecting women's economic empowerment, leadership, access to finance, enterprise development and participation in water governance.
